Just Arrived At The Church. Waiting To Make Cards.
Though I was not feeling well physically today at the S.L.C., I can say there was a whole lot of energy available to all of us. Thirty students from the Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy in Comox visited us today. They and their teachers Bernadette Keenan and Ron Hesselink came to serve the clients of the Sonshine Lunch Club.
The large group was divided into three groups of ten. Twenty students made Christmas cards for the clients in an adjoining lounge at the church, while ten worked in the hall, and the groups rotated. They washed dishes, served meals and drinks, handed out meal tickets, wiped and stacked meal trays and generally helped out where they could. When there were slack times, they sang carols for us in the kitchen.
At the end of the session, the children came together to present us with $75 which they had collected and earned at the school. I certainly had a marvellous time with them.

The clients, volunteers and board of directors of the S.L.C. thank the students and teachers for their gifts of time, service and money. We wish all of you a very safe and happy Christmas.
